Important Announcement: Dominique Humeau had to put an end to his journey.
Dominique suffered a hand injury following an accident. After attempting to treat the injury himself, he made the decision to contact emergency services, unable to continue rowing. Rescue operations were carried out, and he was brought back to dry land last Sunday.
“On a mental level, it was very tough when pressing the distress beacon; everything hinges on that moment (…) After long hours of contemplation, this decision was very difficult to make. Three years of fantastic preparation to build this project with partners, schools, friends, and family, and everything comes to a sudden halt; it’s very tough,” shared Dominique.
He particularly wants to express his gratitude to all the individuals involved in this project, especially the partners, for their unwavering support.
This decision has been challenging for him as an adventurer, but health remains the top priority. Embarking on such a journey entails risks that our athlete was prepared to face, albeit in vain.
The entire Expedition Protect Ocean team expresses its support for Dominique.
